Reflection – Caffeine Chaos Pitch

Caffeine Chaos was pitched in one of our weekly Studio classes among peers and faculty members. Overall the pitch was received well with the concepts and idea being received generally well with only some clarification needed.

Presentation content was great and appeared to be sufficient without use of text or excessive number of slides. having the concept art and hook ready for the pitch really helped to convey the humor and context of proposal and better idea of the end product.

In terms of presentation style, the number of ‘ums’ were relatively low however further polish and practice of presentation would have been of benefit. Posture and engagement with audience could also have been more consistent and deliberate again this would have benefited from more rehearsal.

Feedback and questions were handled well and clarifications clear and concise for the most part. When answering questions that are formed as “will there be feature X in your game” do not rush to say yes we actually could include that, especially if you have decided to leave that out due to complexity or scope. Be honest and confident about your decision and move on to the next question. you are there to pitch and convince people that you know what you are doing, not every person asking a question will fully understand your project goal and expected player experience.

Notes for next pitch:

  • Practice/rehearse at least twice
  • Be more aware of posture (comes with practice)
  • Don’t cave in to every question or request for features
